Our Company
Lead and zinc mines in the Balkan region have created a substantial quantity of hazardous surface tailings, waste and by-product materials over the last 100 years.
As well, scrap steel smelters produce Electric Arc Furnace Dust (“EAFD”) as a waste product that contains substantial zinc. Globally, approximately 5 million tons of EAFD is produced annually, containing over 1 million tones of zinc.
Esrey Resources Ltd. is focused on the extraction of zinc, lead and other metals from these waste materials in a hydrometallurgical process that is in the final stages of development. Our hydrometallurgical pilot plant which is capable of processing approximately 100 tonnes of feed per annum, demonstrates the process is technically and economically viable. International laboratories are assisting us by fine tuning certain aspects of Esrey’s recovery technology. We are targeting a zero waste solution to these hazardous waste feed products. It is expected that successful piloting will lead to the construction of a commercial facility to process these lead and zinc bearing wastes. The plant is forecast to produce LME grade zinc, lead and other recovered metals and contribute to the cleanup of metallurgical wastes around the Balkans and other regions.
The Company observes compliance with the Basel Convention to transport and process waste material as an end-user and all EU environmental regulations.
Key Strengths
ZINC FOCUSED
We are focused on the extraction of zinc and lead from primary Electric Arc Furnace waste and secondary waste materials from mines and furnaces in the Balkan region which have created a substantial quantity of surface tailings, waste and by-product materials over the last 100 years.
POSITIONED FOR GROWTH
The Company is defining the parameters of a large scale zinc production facility on a suitable industrial site to accommodate the organic growth of 60,000 tpa of waste material through a production facility.
